A personal recap of things I explored, learned, or questioned in tech this week.
🌐 Homelab Updates
- Setup extra 1000Mpbs Nic in all 3 nodes
- Setup cluster network in Ceph
- Moved hardware
- Installed OMV in node 2
- This will get the main backup disk (for now). It is a sandisk SSD 2TB.
📚 What I Learned
- It is important to have a good Disaster Recovery Plan and testing frequently
- As I want to live infra (not just learn), I will implement a DRP for my homelab and my personal data
- And have automatic process that is able to guarantee that the backups work
❓ Open Questions or Doubts
- I don’t know how to deal with Large amount of data in a context of 3-2-1 copies
- It sounds too expensive and slow
- DHCP Reservation doesn’t work smoothly as I thought
- I had issues with a LXC that had a process that depended on network. By turn it off, the systemd process of the app worked fine (network.target was a dependency)

- I watched all the 24 videos (at the date) to review and complement my knowledge on networking
- I didn’t take notes in the process since it was complementary content. I will go deeper some day

💬 Final Thoughts
- I didn’t take advantage of the weekend to learn something meaningful.
- Also, I didn’t make too much progress in the certification study
- However, I’m not desmotivated. It is normal. No all weeks will be amazing.
- I had a lot of issues to setup the disks and the backup system
- This was the most frustated thing that happend throught the week
